NZIHT is wholly owned by Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT) and is one of the largest providers of civil engineering, technical and skills training in NZ. The qualifications are offered in a mixed mode format of self-directed study & tutor-led learning contact sessions called Study Blocks.

This qualification is designed to provide holders of engineering qualifications an opportunity to acquire technical knowledge in highway engineering and general understanding of applied management. The principal aim is to give the highway engineering industry with a programme, which will equip candidates with the technical and management skills to function at the middle management level.

English eligibility requirement

You will need an overall IELTS score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band to pursue Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Highways).

Management roles after the course

-Design, construction, and maintenance of roads,

-Project management,

-Infrastructure planning and development,

-Asset management and

-Local government.

Immigration benefits

After the successful completion of the Graduate Diploma in Highway Engineering outside Auckland, a student will get two years Post Study Open Work Visa. Roading and Infrastructure Engineers are an occupation in Skills Shortage. Engineering jobs are included in the New Zealand current Long-term skill shortage list, meaning the employers would not need to prove to Immigration New Zealand (INZ) that they are unable to find NZ citizens and residents for these types of jobs.

Family benefits – Work Visa for partner and children schooling

Partner of a student pursuing Graduate Diploma in Highway Engineering is eligible for an open work visa in New Zealand.
