Teaching Career in New Zealand

Teaching is a good career choice in New Zealand. There are number of teacher jobs in New Zealand. Moreover, there is a  good demand for Early childhood teacher where one teaches from 0-5 years children.

The holder of a graduate degree in any stream – Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) can make their career in teaching in New Zealand. Not required but having Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) would add additional value to this career.  Aspirants need to assess their qualifications from New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA). One can do a Graduate Diploma in Teaching (Early Childhood Education) Level 7 available from a number of institutes and universities in New Zealand. Usually, there is a requirement of 7 bands in each module of IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or equivalent for the candidates of English as a second language. Some colleges and universities have set out a higher requirement of band score for the applicants from non-speaking English countries.

Additionally, the holder of Bachelors of Education (B.Ed.) degree may be eligible to teach directly in New Zealand as a Trained Teacher in schools at the Primary or secondary level if approved from NZQA. This degree once recognized by NZQA and they may also teach in the early childhood sector as primary trained teachers.
